ХИАС ОБЪЯВЛЯЕТ КОНКУРС

ХИАС, Еврейское общество помощи иммигрантам, принимает заявления для участия в конкурсе на получение учебных стипендий 1999 года. Принять участие в конкурсе могут приехавшие в течение или после 1985 года беженцы и их дети, которые иммигрировали в США с помощью ХИАСа, и люди, получившие политическое убежище с помощью нашей организации.

Стипендии предназначены для студентов, которые собираются получить высшее образование. Для участия в конкурсе необходимо учиться в средней школе (12 класс), колледже или аспирантуре как минимум один академический год. Стипендии присуждаются с учетом академической успеваемости, общественной работы в еврейских или других организациях и материального положения. В прошлом году 110 победителей конкурса получили стипендии в размере 1000 долларов каждая.

В этом году к участию в конкурсе допускаются обладатели стипендий прежних лет. Заполненные анкеты, справки об успеваемости и другие необходимые документы должны быть отправлены в ХИАС не позднее 15 апреля 1999 года.

REBBETZIN ESTHER JUNGREIS AT BARUCH COLLEGE

Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis will be speaking at Baruch College Hillel on March 4th 1999, 12:30 - 2:15PM (Location TBA). Rebbetzin Jungreis is a famous speaker and the founder of "Hineini". She has done speaking at synagogues, conferences, army bases, high schools around the country and is famous for inspirational talks on modern issues from the Torah perspective. Free copies of her latest book "The Committed Life" will be distributed in the Hillel office at Baruch - 1511 360 Park Ave South. Refreshments will be served.
